Unique visits and repeat clicks
A unique visit is the first recognized human visit to that shortened link from an IP identity. Later ordinary-link opens from the same identity are reported as clicks, while later QR opens remain in QR scans. Repeated activity therefore stays visible without inflating the unique visitor figure. Shared networks can make different people appear as one visitor, while a changing mobile connection or VPN can make one person appear more than once. Opening a Nev QR code records the QR source separately. A QR visitor can still contribute to total unique visits, while the QR counter shows how many opens arrived through the code rather than an ordinary link.Devices, browsers and countries
Nev identifies common browsers and reports Android, iPhone, iPad, tablet, or desktop from the browser information sent with each request. Countries are estimated from the connection’s IP address. Browser privacy settings can hide or simplify device information, and a VPN normally reports the VPN server’s country instead of the visitor’s physical location.Direct, referral and social traffic
A referral means the browser reported the website where the visitor clicked the link. Nev shows only that referring website’s domain. Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, TikTok, X, and YouTube referrals are also summarized as social traffic. Direct includes typed and pasted links, opens from many apps, and visits where the browser withheld the referring website. It does not necessarily mean someone typed the address by hand.How crawler reporting works
Requests Nev recognizes as automated crawlers are excluded from human visit figures and reported separately. This prevents ordinary search crawlers and many automated scanners from inflating the numbers.
Crawler detection is not perfect. A sophisticated bot that convincingly imitates an ordinary browser may still be counted as a human visit, while an unusual or privacy-focused browser may occasionally be classified as automated. Nev reports what it can establish from the request and does not describe these estimates as proof of click fraud.
